Reading: We are continuing to look at components of a good summary. We have been writing summaries together as a class, but soon, the students will start to write them on their own as well. Also, I was able to test the students for their current reading levels. ALL the students have improved in their reading! :)
Math: We have slowly finished off Unit 6. We ended the unit by getting a quick first look at multiplication and division. We are not starting our multiplication facts yet, but the initial look was so that students started to get a glimpse at the concept of both these operations. Please still continue to work on addition and subtraction facts so as not to confuse them.
Social Studies: We started by learning a little bit about why the Revolutionary War started in America. We began reading a Magic Tree House book called Revolutionary War on Wednesday. This book will give a good introduction to the War before we talk about it more in depth.
Writing: We are starting to wrap up our Comic Book unit. The students are starting to finish off their stories and "publish" them to share with other readers. On top of their own stories, the students have also started writing a comic with their 4th grade buddy. The students have really enjoyed this activity and they have learned a lot by collaborating with someone older.
Superstar of the Week: Our superstar of the week is Taylor this upcoming week.
