Reading: Last week, we alternated between realistic fiction and folktales during shared reading. We began to ask questions about the story and looked for answers explicitly stated from the text. Students were naturally making predictions and connections, which were our in our previous units! This week we will continue practicing modeling using some question starter labels using the SMART board.
Math: Last week, we went deeper into our unit on decimals and place value. We explored estimating and finding exact costs, making change, finding area, and place value. This week we will be wrapping up Unit 11, doing some review, and taking our post-assessment on Thursday. Wish us luck!
Science: Last week, we explored river rocks and learned to sort them by size using large, medium, and small screens. We learned about sand, small and large gravel, and small and large pebbles. We also discussed boulders and cobble. We were grateful for classmates who brought in rocks to share for our rocks museum. Thank you for helping your child collect rocks.
Writing: We have continued using our creative minds to write poems. Several of our classmates have even volunteered their poems to be analyzed and editted by the whole class. Our main focus is learning how to use line breaks appropriately. We look forward to sharing many more original poems as the unit continues.
Superstar of the Week: Our Superstar of the week this next week will be Liam. We can't wait to learn more about him!!
