It is hard to believe that we only have 1.5 weeks left before our Fall Intercession. Up until then, we have lots of things to keep us busy. We have 2 field trips coming up. On September 11, we will be traveling to Buffalo Trace Prairie at the Lake of the Woods in Mahomet. We will be leaving around 8:45am and returning around 1:30pm. If you have volunteered to be a chaperone for this trip, please be on the look out for a phone call or email from me to confirm. On September 16, we will be going to Parkland Agriculture Center in the morning to help further understand farms. We will be once again leaving at 8:45am and will return around 11:45am. If you have not signed your child's permission slip, please be sure to do so ASAP. If you have not signed both permission slips, your child will not be able to go to the field trip to Parkland.
We are also wrapping up our first Passion Project. I have gotten numerous emails asking about the requirements for this project. There really aren't any. I've given the students 6+ weeks to pick and work on a project of their choosing. They knew they had to share their projects with one another at the end and many of them did not seem too concerned. It has been a learning experience for us all. The students now seem much more nervous about their projects and what they are going to present, knowing it is only 1.5 weeks away. If you would like to work on their project at home with them, please feel free to do so, but please do not feel obligated. I'm sure many of them would like your support so if you would like to help them along, please feel free to do so. Do know that they have had numerous hours of class time to work on it and we have talked extensively about how to make and work on projects, what types of projects are do-able, how to break down projects into steps, etc. The students will have 3-5 minutes to present about their projects and what they have learned. Please do let me know if you have any further questions!
