In Science, we have been studying the Prairie. The students have really gotten into learning about what it was like to live on the prairie, the difference between soil and sod (ask them!), and about different prairie plants. They have been very intrigued by the fact that many prairie plant roots are 15 feet below the earth while the plant above ground is only a few feet high! The students will get a better picture of the prairie when we go out to Lake of the Woods in September to get a closer look. Please be on the look out for a permission slip in the next couple weeks. Our field trip will be on September 11, for nearly the whole day (from 8:45am-1:30pm). Please plan accordingly if you'd like to volunteer and come with us.
Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to know your children! Though the transition into 3rd grade can be a little tough, they have all stepped up to the challenge and have done amazingly well!
